Friends of Kate Sessions (FOKS)
Friends of Kate Sessions (FOKS) is our school' Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). FOKS operates as a 501c3 non-profit organization which means we can operate with greater discretion over monies raised and are not subject to any state-mandated processes. Our core mission is to enhance the curriculum and provide support for programs that the state and federal government no longer support such, library, art, and music at Kate Sessions Elementary School whenever possible and build strong connections between the school, family, and community.
FOKS has a volunteer Board of Directors that is made up of parents elected for a one-year term. We hold open meetings to discuss current activities and issues of interest to parents. We encourage you to come to the PTO meetings and learn more about what is happening at Sessions. We would love to see you!
We try to design our fundraising so that it will reach each Sessions family and our local community. Over the course of the year FOKS offers families a number of ways to give. We realize that everyone has a different comfort level when donating that's why we have a variety of ways we fundraise and they are spaced out over the school year. Whether you are able to donate $10, $100 or even $1000, every dollar donated helps us reach our goal and we appreciate every contribution.
There are lots of ways to participate and give your time and talent. We hope you will become involved in the Sessions school community whether it' by running a booth at the Halloween Carnival, or chairing a school event. The rewards are plentiful for you and your children. Research shows that kids whose parents are involved in their school perform better academically and socially and are more confident. Your time and talent are priceless. Join us in fostering and supporting the kind of learning environment we want for our children.
